The Department is pleased to announce the posting of the most recent version of the 2002-2003 EDE Technical Reference which consists of the December 2001 set of change pages as well as the entire updated document. This document provides record layouts for schools or other organizations that need to design software systems to interface with ED’s software in order to process applications and package student financial aid awards. The document is posted in both PDF and Word formats. The PDF version of the entire document is bookmarked for your convenience. When printing individual files, print the File Naming Conventions file first. This document explains how to assemble the technical reference. For a complete listing of SAR and ISIR comment codes, refer to the 2002-2003 SAR/ISIR Comment Codes and Text document also found on this site.

EDconnect 5.1.0 is now available. This version is compatible with Windows XP and Windows ME, and resolves several issues related to sending files over the Student Aid Internet Gateway using EDconnect 5.0.0. An updated Cover Letter, Installation Guide, and Desk Reference are available to assist you as you install and use the software.

An updated school code list file, as of October 2, 2001, is now available for download on the FAFSASM Express download site. This file will allow any FAFSASM Express users to update the school code database of their installed FAFSASM Express application to the most recent available list.

An updated version of the OnLine SecureManager (OSM) User’s Guide is now available on SFADownload.ed.gov. OSM is a Web site that allows you to track the status of incoming and outgoing Title IV data batches to/from your SAIG mailbox. Page 1 of the User’s Guide was updated to correct the time translation from Greenwich Mean Time.

The COD Technical Reference Version 3.0 is now available on SFA Download. This version supersedes all previous versions of the COD Technical Reference. The information included in version 3.0 of the COD Technical Reference applies to Full Participants in the 2002 - 2003 award year of Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) only. You are a Full Participant if you will be submitting the COD Common Record in the new XML format. All other participants submit records using the 2002-2003 RFMS and DLOS formats and should use the 2002-2003 RFMS and/or DLOS technical references when available. If you have any questions, please contact SFA's Customer Service Call Center at (800) 433-7327. Staff is available Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, Eastern Time.

The EasyAccess Client software that allows mainframe and midrange users to transmit Title IV data through the Internet is now available. The SAIG Host Communication Guide for Mainframe and Midrange Users includes instructions on installing the software and initialization files. The Cover Letter details the steps to migrate to the SAIG and includes forthcoming updates to the Host Comm Guide.

The Department is pleased to announce the release of the new stand-alone software product, 2001-2002 Direct Loan (DL) Tools for Windows, Version 1.0.0. DL Tools is a multi-cycle application designed to help you perform the following tasks:
* Rebuild your EDExpress Direct Loan database
* Compare your school's Direct Loan data to the 732 report
* Print the 732 report in a readable format
* Track your Direct Loan cash detail
The initial release of DL Tools is for program year 2001-2002 and provides some functionality for program year 2000-2001. All Direct Loan schools can use the Compare and Track Cash Detail functionality. The Rebuild process is for schools using the EDExpress Direct Loan module. The 2001-2002 DL Tools Installation Guide and Cover Letter are also available through this site.

The 2000-2001 EDExpress for Windows, Version 6.3.1, service release is now available. This version loads a modification to the Direct Loan module to accommodate a Loan Origination Center data processing change. You must have Version 6.3 installed on your system before loading Version 6.3.1. NOTE: If your school does not use 2000-2001 EDExpress to process Direct Loan data, you do not need to install Version 6.3.1.
