Direct Loan Tools

Direct Loan Tools Release 18.0

Description: Direct Loan (DL) Tools for Windows, Release 18.0 is a Windows-based application designed to provide the following functionality related to all Direct Loan schools’ software:

• Compare the School Account Statement (SAS) to loans and actual disbursements recorded in EDExpress or an external file, and/or compare the SAS to the DL Tools Cash database.

• Print the SAS in a readable format.

• Track Cash Receipts (drawdowns) and Refunds of Cash

• Rebuild your Direct Loan origination and disbursement records in EDExpress using an automated process.

• Run the Disbursement Measurement Tool Report to help monitor Direct Loan records in your EDExpress database.

DL Tools, Release 18.0 was developed to process data for the 2018-2019 cycle only.

All Direct Loan schools can use the Compare and Cash Management functionality. The Rebuild function is used by schools to rebuild accepted Direct Loan records in EDExpress for Windows databases. However, non-EDExpress users can export data from a rebuilt EDExpress database to recreate non-EDExpress loans or databases.

E D Express 2019-2020 icon EDExpress for Windows 2019-2020 Release 1.0

Description: The EDExpress software is a PC application that processes, packages, and manages Title IV student financial aid records. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) provides EDExpress to post-secondary educational institutions that participate in its Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) process.

EDExpress for Windows 2019-2020, Release 1.0 is the initial software release for the 2019-2020 award cycle and includes Application Processing, Packaging, and Global functionality (such as Security setup, Document Tracking, and User Database). Release 1.0 also includes setup, entry, import, and print functionality for the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet.

 

E D Express 2018-2019 icon EDExpress for Windows 2018-2019 Release 3.0

Description: The EDExpress software is a PC application that processes, packages, and manages Title IV student financial aid records. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) provides EDExpress to post-secondary educational institutions that participate in its Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) process.

EDExpress for Windows 2018-2019, Release 3.0 is the third software release for the 2018-2019 award cycle. Release 3.0 adds new functionality to the Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant) module that enables you to import Pell Grant School Account Statement (SAS) files and compare the imported SAS data to Pell Grant award, disbursement, and cash data in your EDExpress 2018-2019 database. Release 3.0 also includes updates to import functionality for entrance and exit counseling results for Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant awards and resolves multiple software issues from prior releases.

Release 3.0 includes all functionality from prior releases, including full Pell Grant, William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan), TEACH Grant, Application Processing, Packaging, and Global functionality (such as Security setup, Document Tracking, and User Database).

G A DataPrep GA DataPrep Version 4.0 Description: The NSLDS GA DataPrep software is a standalone application used by Guaranty Agencies (GAs) for the preparation of loan data prior to being submitted to NSLDS for processing. The updated software is compatible with Windows 2000 or later. GA Loan Discharge Submittal GA Loan Discharge Submittal Description: The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) gives Guaranty Agencies (GAs) the capability to report Loan Discharge information so Federal Student Aid (FSA) can track, display and report Loan Discharge information for students who have outstanding Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) loans. To accommodate GAs with a large number of records to report, NSLDS has provided a batch upload method that can process as many as 50 records/rows of data at a time. After information is added to the template spreadsheet the data is uploaded and transferred to an online web page to assist GA users in adding Loan Discharge data to NSLDS. GA Loan Discharge Submittal NSLDS Enrollment Submittal Description:The NSLDS Enrollment Spreadsheet Submittal Format is one of the online reporting methods schools can use to supply enrollment data to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) through the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. This version adds support for reporting Program-Level enrollment information.  The submittal format is designed to be used with a columnar spreadsheet application and allows a school to upload and submit up to 2500 records/rows of enrollment data at a time, with a maximum file size of 1,000 KB. File size varies depending on the version of software used. After the school adds the enrollment information to the spreadsheet and confirms the data is correct, the school then uploads and transfers the data to the NSLDS Professional Access Web site.  If you have any questions regarding this document, please contact the NSLDS Customer Support Center at 800/999-8219, 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Perkins Loan Submittal NSLDS Perkins Loan Submittal Description: One of the methods that schools can use to submit Perkins Loan data and corrections to existing Perkins Loans to the U.S. Department of Education is by using the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. The Perkins Spreadsheet Submittal Format Template is available to assist schools with the online upload process. The template is designed to be used with a columnar spreadsheet application and allows for a size limit up to 1,000 KB (1 MB) of data to be loaded at a time. After the school adds Perkins Loan data to the spreadsheet, the school then uploads the data to the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. Teacher Loan Forgiveness Submittal Teacher Loan Forgiveness Submittal Description: The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) gives Guaranty Agencies (GAs) the capability to report Teacher Loan Forgiveness (TLF) information so Federal Student Aid (FSA) can track, display and report TLF information for students who have outstanding Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) loans. After information is added to the template spreadsheet the data is uploaded and transferred to an online web page to assist GA users in adding TLF data to NSLDS. Gainful Employment Submittal NSLDS Gainful Employment Submittal Description: One of the methods that schools can use to submit gainful employment data and corrections to previously reported data, to the U.S. Department of Education (the Department) is using the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. The NSLDS Gainful Employment Spreadsheet Submittal Format is available to assist with the online upload process. The format is designed to be used with a columnar spreadsheet application and allows for a total file size limit up to 1,000 KB (1 MB) to be loaded at a time. Any file size over this limit will cause the spreadsheet to be rejected. File size varies depending on the version of software used. After the school adds gainful employment information to the spreadsheet, the school then uploads and transfers the data to the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. Reaffirmation Data Submittal NSLDS Reaffirmation Data Submittal Description: The Reaffirmation Data Spreadsheet Submittal is an online reporting method Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program lenders and lender servicers can use to supply reaffirmation data to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) through the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. The submittal format is designed to be used with a columnar spreadsheet application and allows for the upload and submittal of a maximum file size of 1,000 KB. File size varies depending on the version of software used. If you have any questions regarding this template, please contact the NSLDS Customer Support Center at 800/999-8219, 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. (ET) or by e-mail at nslds@ed.gov.


Exit Counseling Submittal NSLDS Exit Counseling Submittal Description: School users have the ability to report exit counseling data to the NSLDS Professional Access Web site. This allows schools to maintain exit counseling data in one central location and offers comprehensive information to schools, lenders, GAs, and servicers when using NSLDS reporting functionality. To accommodate schools with a large number of records to report, a submittal upload method is provided that can process up to 2,500 records/rows of exit counseling data at a time, with a maximum file size of 1,000 KB (1 MB). File size can vary depending on the version of software being used. Any file size over this limit will cause the spreadsheet to be rejected. After the school adds exit counseling information to the spreadsheet, the school then uploads the file to validate and transfer the data to the NSLDS database. Description: The Message Class Table File (MESSAGTB) automatically populates into the EDconnect software when a user connects to a SAIG Mailbox. EDconnect uses the Message Class Table to recognize standard files (or message classes) that are used to send and receive data. Additionally, the Message Table File may also be used as a reference by SAIG mainframe users who would like information on the various Message Classes.


Perkins DataPrep Perkins DataPrep Version 4.0

Description: The NSLDS Perkins DataPrep software is a standalone application used by schools and servicers for the preparation of loan data prior to being submitted to NSLDS for processing. The updated software is compatible with Windows 2000 or later. E D Connect icon SAIG Mailbox Software & Manuals: EDconnect, TDClient, TDCM

Description: EDconnect is a Windows-based software that assists users with sending, receiving, and managing their Federal student aid information electronically. Users collect data on their personal computer (PC) or computer system and transmit the collected data in batches over the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). The appropriate Title IV Application System receives the data, processes the data, performs any required database cross-referencing, and returns the processed data to the user’s SAIG mailbox. The entire processing cycle for routine application data within the SAIG system is typically 72 hours (three working days).

TDClient is a command-line software that assists users with sending, receiving, and managing their Federal student aid information electronically.  Users transmit the data via TDClient over the Student Aid Internet Gateway (SAIG). The appropriate Title IV Application System receives the data, processes the data, performs any required database cross-referencing, and returns the processed data to the user’s SAIG mailbox. The entire processing cycle for routine application data within the SAIG system is typically 72 hours (three working days).


SUN Java Runtime Environment

Description: SUN JRE version 6, Update 12 will enable Guaranty Agencies and Lenders to run the Lender Reporting system and the Guaranty Agency Financial Reporting (GAFR-Forms 2000) within Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer on the Windows NT4.0, Windows XP and Windows VISTA platforms. This new version is required to run the upgraded online forms after June 6,2009.
